The economic free fall gripping the nation may bring down one of the main environmental objectives: capping the greenhouse gases that are blamed for global warming.
John McCain kept Barack Obama on the defensive during round one of the Presidential debate(s). The debate focus was often directed to McCain, who has repeatedly stated the matter of Presidential duty is a proven by ability to lead.
John McCain accepts the Republican presidential nomination with a dual message: Barack Obama did not have the judgment to govern, whereas he himself could reach across party divisions.
Jack,
Since this remark was so far off the original topic of conversation, I decided to respond to you personally instead of sending the group even more off topic.
I'm just curious why you consider yourself an expert on mormonism and refuse to listen to 2 different ex-mormons (who don't even know each other)
and why you would dismiss us as being from some splinter group or something. Here's my history: I was born and raised a mormon, not in one of the many splinter groups, but the main body known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was baptized at the age of 8, went to Primary every week as a child, took 4 years of mormon seminary classes in high school, went to a mormon church owned college called Ricks College (Now called BYU-Idaho) for 2 years, associates degree. Went to BYU Provo, Utah for a semester, was sent on an LDS mission to Europe then came back and finished my bachelor's degree at BYU - Provo. I was interviewed and considered "worthy" to recieve a temple recommend upon recieving my mission call and began to participate in temple ceremonies at that time. I continued to wear the temple garments even after I had become a born-again christian for several months, partially because wearing them was such an ingrained thing. It was hard to take them off. I had been a mormon for 40 years and I can guarantee you that I know mormon doctrine backwards and forwards and I used to defend it quite aggressively.
I can also guarantee you that mormonism is a polytheistic religion. Whatever website you got your information from didn't give you the whole story.
JackB: Experience means absolutely nothing when it comes to presidential politics. If it did, Bush would be the logical choice. And though the constitution prohibits Bush from serving a 3rd term, I couldn't imagine him winning another election.
When I say "nothing to offer", I mean: no progressive ideas that would move us ahead in the new global economy. I don't hear anything that stirs my soul coming out of his campaign. I'm tired of being in conflict with one country or another. I'm tired of the me vs. you, black vs. white, rich vs. poor, liberal vs, conservative, man vs, woman, my culture vs your culture, my religion vs your religion stuff that the the Republican party have come to embrace (which has kept our country from moving forward).
It is time for all that stuff to end. Maybe Palin has some progressive ideas, I'm willing to give her a chance, but from what I hear out of McCain, I see 4 more years stagnation.
I visited Beijing during the Olympics. I saw a people ready to bust out. Americans are ready to bust out too, but we aren't going to do it unless we embrace our diversity, respect our differences and be more progressive in our thinking.

What a refreshing development: racism, sexism, religious extremism, rote repetition of party propaganda and blind colossal ignorance all piled together in one stinking heap in a single pathetic personality.
Keep up the great work, JackB. Neo-Nazi throwbacks like you are the reason the Democrats have registered over 11 million new voters since June!
